Armi: A Modern and Ergonomic Faucet Basin

Inspired by the Human Arm, Designed by Mehmet Savas and Yeliz Gumus

Armi stands out with its cubic lines and sleek design, imitating the relationship and operating logic between the human shoulder and arm. The faucet spout of Armi is designed to move up and down, mimicking the motion of the arm. This innovative feature not only adds to the aesthetics of the design but also makes it more ergonomic for users.

One of the key advantages of Armi is its movable faucet spout that can be lifted 90 degrees upward. This allows users to clean the basin in a more comfortable and efficient way, reducing strain on the wrist and arm. Additionally, this movable spout makes Armi's box smaller and more flat compared to standard faucet boxes, adding to its modern and minimalistic appeal.

Armi is made using high-quality materials and advanced technology. It consists of a movable faucet spout, Q25 mm cartridge mechanism, joystick control lever, and body pieces. The main brass material is coated with a 7-8 micron nickel layer, followed by a 0.3 micron inox (brushed steel) layer applied using a pvd implementing procedure. This not only enhances the durability of the faucet but also reduces the likelihood of fingerprints on the surface.

With dimensions of W:77.5 x D:163.5 x H:202 mm and weighing approximately 1.5 kg, Armi is designed to fit seamlessly into any washbasin. The box dimensions are W:110 x D:62 x H:293 mm, ensuring a compact and modern appearance.

The design team, consisting of Mehmet Savas and Yeliz Gumus, started working on Armi in November 2015 and completed it in February 2016 in Istanbul, Turkey. Extensive research was conducted to understand the expectations and preferences of users when it comes to faucet design and usage. The result is a design that is modern, aesthetically pleasing, easy to use, functional, and durable.

During the design process, the team faced challenges in maintaining the aesthetic appeal while ensuring the faucet spout was at the optimal distance from the washbasin drain center. By adjusting the gap between the spout and the body, they were able to find the perfect balance, allowing for the 90-degree lifted movement joint to be concealed.

Armi has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Bathroom Furniture and Sanitary Ware Design category in 2016. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements.
